The Catholic Dog….

Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company.

One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, “Father, me dog is dead. Could ya’ be saying’ a mass for the poor creature?”

Father Patrick replied, “I’m afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Baptists down the lane, an there’s no tellin’ what they believe. Maybe they’ll do something for the creature.”

Muldoon said, “I’ll go right away Father. Do ya’ think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?”

Father Patrick exclaimed, “Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn’t ya tell me the dog was Catholic?

Hope the above gave you a chuckle! Laughter is the best medicine!

Stories that change lives….

Birthday Cards That Transformed My Son

–posted by NJMaria on Jul 2, 2008

Back in October, I found a website — wishuponahero.com — that has changed my life for the better.  The site is all about people helping others out of the goodness of their heart, not expecting anything in return.

I am a single mom on SSI and have a developmentally delayed child. My son’s 12th birthday was the 29th of October 2007 and knowing that I could not afford to get him anything at all for his birthday, I felt broken hearted.  I decided to post a wish on “Wish Upon A Hero” website for people to send my son birthday cards. I knew he loved to check the mailbox and always asked if there was anything for him. So, I thought that if he could get a few cards, it would make him smile and maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t be so upset that I wasn’t able to get him anything.

Well, let me tell you, the cards just starting pouring in and my little sweetie was absolutely thrilled!  Every day more and more cards came and this went on for about three weeks. The smile on his face and the sparkle in his eyes brought me to tears.

At the end of November, he starting thinking about Christmas and he already knew that there would not be much under the tree for him due to my finances, but it didn’t seem to matter to him. All he talked about was how much he wanted to make other children smile.  He decided that what he wanted to do was earn money to buy Christmas cards and send them to other children from needy families.

My son went out daily and raked leaves and walked some dogs to make money. Not only did he make the money to buy the cards, but he also made enough money to buy all the stamps and lollipops to put in the cards. He sent out about 100 cards. Doing this brought him that same smile and sparkle in his eyes as did the birthday cards that he received. I was and am so proud of him.

My son and Wish Upon a Hero have given me renewed hope that there are still people in this world that care about others.

Have a Blessed Day!

J.R. On Tract at Church this morning!

Happy Fourth of July!

Declare Your Freedom

Today’s Scripture

“You have been set free from sin…” (Romans 6:18).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria Osteen

Today we celebrate Independence Day in America. July 4, 1776 was the day America declared independence from Britain, but the battle for freedom went on until 1783—seven years later. Even though they declared their freedom in 1776, they had to stand and fight for many years before the British would accept and recognize the United States of America.

In the same way, we have to be determined to stand against the opposing forces in our lives. We have to declare our freedom from addiction, poverty, sickness and lack. We have to stand and fight until we fully experience that freedom and peace that God has promised. I love what the early colonists did once they signed the Declaration of Independence. They read it out loud in public. They published it in the newspaper. They spread the word. They continued to declare and celebrate even though they were in the midst of the battle. Whatever battle you may be facing today, declare that you are free. Declare that you are an overcomer. Celebrate the victory that is on its way! As you stand strong and declare your freedom, you will experience His victory and you will live in true freedom all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free in every area of my life. I declare today that nothing can hold me back. I declare that I am free from sickness, poverty, lack and addiction. I declare that You have set me free and thank You for freedom in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a Blessed Day and be careful with the use of fireworks!

Let this story touch your life….

Chicky’s Lessons Of Love

–posted by jacq on Jun 19, 2008

I had a neighbor when I was a child whose name was Chicky.  He was a good 20 years older than me and he had Cerebral Palsy, quite severe.  He was never able to walk or even use the bathroom on his own, his parents carried this grown man in and out of their home whenever weather permitted.  Chicky would sit outside, strapped in his wheel chair, so he didn’t fall out from his spasams.

His spot in the world was sitting under an apple tree listening to his transistor radio.  I was also limited physically, so I sat with him a lot and we talked.  I don’t think many people knew how smart Chicky was.  He used to ask to touch my face and I would stand close to his chair.  He would make this little hoppity motion with his hand and it would strike up against my cheek, and he would be so happy he could hardly breathe.  Now of course I had access to my cheek 24 hours a day and it did absolutely Nothing for me to touch it…but for him it made his day!

That’s something I learned from him — he couldn’t do much at all physically but he didn’t let that stop him mentally!  He could take something so simple as brushing against someone’s cheek and feel so happy.  Chicky never once came to my house, he couldn’t even turn over ,but there was something about his spirit that drew me up the hill and that something is undefinable. Maybe you can put your finger on what it was — I can only guess it’s what venus fly traps have, a draw.   Chicky lived home until his parents were very old and  they couldn’t get him up and down the stairs anymore.  Then he moved to a convalesent home .

Quite sometime later, when I must have been around 27 years old , I looked out my window and I saw a station wagon pull up next door — Chicky was inside and he was home for the day!  I am not exaggerating when I say I watched his parents grow young again as they got him out of the car.  They had purpose and honor through this reunion AND they had help from his siblings.  The family had a picnic together and Chicky was the life of the party.  The reason for the whole family to gather was Chicky’s day home.

There he was pushing 50: never taken a step in his life, never fed himself or washed himself or dressed himself, never made lunch or love or an enemy BUT HE GOT IT– what most of us never will, he got the meaning of life!  How to love and be loved.  I went up the hill that day wantingly and he remembered me and asked to stroke my cheek and it still left him breathless.  I wanted to pay tribute to him today — Chicky was an honor to know and a treasure I wanted to share.

Hope the above reminded you of the things we take for granted, which is alot that I have my whole life, I’m thankful for my legs and arms and the ability to move them. How about you? Share this blog with your friends and remember God answers prayer in his timing! I am currently sick with a severe cough and sinus.  I Hope an pray it passes soon however it will never be how Chicky had to live. Check out our sites from this blogroll section of this site. Happy Fathers Day!

It Is Written:
HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER, SO THAT YOU MAY
LIVE LONG IN THE LAND THE LORD YOUR GOD IS GIVING YOU.
( EXODUS 20:12 *NIV )

Dear Readers,
Today being a day to honor our father’s, we began the message
with the Fifth Commandment. This Commandment is the first one
with a promise attached to it!

So as we enjoy this day with our earthly father, let us not forget
our Heavenly Father as well, for after all: HAVE WE NOT ALL ONE
FATHER? DID HE NOT CREATE US? ( MALACHI 2:10 )

Therefore on this day I would like to share the following poem
with you. A poem dedicated to our Heavenly Father!

Never Alone!

He can calm the troubled waters
When you walk in dark despair.
There is hope when you feel helpless
Knowing that the Lord is there…

Sharing in your sunshine moments
Or in valleys deep and wide,
He is always by your side.

There’s no other friend so faithful
Through the sunshine and rain,
Through the teardrops and the laughter,
In your joy and in your pain.

We could never, ever thank Him
For His love He gives so free,
Never changing…never ending
Throughout all eternity.

Oh, the wonder of all wonders
As we live from day to day,
Knowing that we have a Father
Who is with us all the way.
Poet, Gertrude B. McClain

So to Dad’s everywhere, GRACE AND PEACE TO YOU FROM
GOD OUR FATHER AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, on this your
day and throughout the year, and may God Richly Bless You as
well! Amen. ( ROMANS 1:7 )

God Talking to us….

The following is brought to my email inbox again by www.godsminute.com and Pastor Allen, I hope you enjoy.  J.R. On Tract for Jesus

INCLINE YOUR EAR TO ME, AND COME TO ME. HEAR, AND
YOUR SOUL SHALL LIVE; AND I WILL MAKE AN EVER-
LASTING COVENANT WITH YOU.
( ISAIAH 55:3 *NKJV )

Dear John,
Our Heavenly Father appears to us in many different ways, and
often we may not even notice. So today, I wish to share with you
a message that I received from a Subscriber, one of our Sister’s
In Christ. Therefore I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Now it is written: WHEN HE UTTERS HIS VOICE–THERE IS
A MULTITUDE OF WATERS IN THE HEAVENS: “HE CAUSES
THE VAPORS TO ASCEND FROM THE ENDS OF THE EARTH;
HE MAKES LIGHTNING’S FOR THE RAIN; HE BRINGS THE
WIND OUT OF HIS TREASURIES.” For; THE VOICE OF THE
LORD IS OVER THE WATERS; THE GOD OF GLORY
THUNDERS. ( Jer 51:16 ) & ( Ps 29:3 )

Now, Today’s Message…

The man whispered, “God, speak to me,” and a meadowlark
sang.

But, the man did not hear. So the man yelled, “God, speak to
me” and the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen. The man looked around and said,
“God let me see you.” And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not see. And, the man shouted, “God show
me a miracle.” And, a life was born.

But, the man did not notice. So, the man cried out in despair,
“Touch me God, and let me know you are here.” Whereupon,
God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed
the butterfly away …and walked on.

The man cried, “God, I need your help!” And an e-mail arrived
reaching out with good news and encouragement. But, the man
deleted it and continued crying.

I have found this to be a great reminder that God is always
around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted
…. even in our electronic age …

So don’t miss out on a blessing because it isn’t packaged the
way that you expect.

My instructions were to send this to people that I wanted God
to bless and I picked you, John. Please pass this to
people you want to be blessed as well.

Expect the unexpected…and Have A Happy Day!

God’s Cake….

AS SERVANTS OF GOD WE COMMEND OURSELVES IN
EVERY WAY: IN GREAT ENDURANCE, IN TROUBLES,
HARDSHIPS AND DISTRESSES. FOR OUR LIGHT AND
MOMENTARY TROUBLES ARE ACHIEVING FOR US AN
ETERNAL GLORY THAT FAR OUTWEIGHS THEM ALL.
( 2 Cor 6:4 ) & ( 2 Cor 4:17 )

Dear Blog Readers,
Now we all, from time to time, have problems or troubles
in our life. After all life is not a piece of cake, or is it? So
the next time you feel troubled why not have a piece of…..

God’s Cake

Sometimes we wonder, “What did I do to deserve this”, or
“Why did God have to do this to me”. Here is a wonderful
explanation!

A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going
wrong, she’s failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her
and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her
daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says,
“Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.”

“Here, have some cooking oil,” her Mother offers.

“Yuck” says her daughter.

“How about a couple raw eggs?”

“Gross, Mom!”

“Would you like some flour then?

Or maybe baking soda?”

“Mom, those are all yucky!”

To which the mother replies: “Yes, all those things seem bad
all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right
way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He
would let us go through such bad and difficult times. For God
knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they
always work for good! We just have to trust Him and,
eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

Always remember, God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen. He can live anywhere in
the universe, and He chose your heart.

Now I hope your day is a “piece of cake!” After all, Life may
not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might
as well dance.

21 Ways To Celebrate Life

–posted by JZ on May 21, 2008

After Nancy Rothstein’s son, Josh, passed away unexpectedly, she was seeking a way to offer a tribute for family and friends to honor his birthday. With each passing birthday, she adds one more item to the list.

Last April 16 would’ve been Josh’s 21st birthday, and true to her tradition, Nancy shared these 21 ways to celebrate life:

  1. Smile. Smiling makes you and those around you feel good. If you don’t feel good, a smile can trick your brain into feeling better.
  2. Eat ice cream.
  3. Run on the beach. If you can’t physically do this, use your imagination.
  4. Call someone who is ill or lonely. Listen to their story. Take the time. Tell them your story, if they ask.

  5. Listen to music that touches your heart and soul.

  6. Sing in the shower, or out loud if you are comfortable.

  7. Visit the grave of a loved one and celebrate your continued BREATH. And tell your loved one what’s on your mind.

  8. Play with a dog.

  9. Thank yourself for putting up with all the things about yourself that drive you nuts! Activate your sense of humor!

  10. Apologize to someone you have wronged in any way.

  11. Take a day, or even a few hours, “off” to do something you always want to do but never take the time to do.

  12. Eat something you never indulge in (unless allergic!) and savor every bite….slowly. No guilt permitted!

  13. Re-watch your favorite funny or happy movie in your most comfortable clothes.

  14. Make plans with 2 friends that you are crazy about but never see…near or far away.

  15. Go outdoors to a natural setting. Sit. Close your eyes. Listen to the world. It’s all an extension of you! Your breath connects you intrinsically to the world.

  16. Laugh. Do something fun or silly that evokes laughter. It has been said that laughter is God’s sunshine.

  17. Place this list in an envelope and revisit it periodically to see how you are celebrating YOURSELF! If you are good to yourself, you can be much better to those around you.

  18. Go to your heart and make all your decisions from there; and all will be well.

  19. Follow the path that matters.

  20. Believe and feel the change you want to see and you will BE the change you envision.

  21. ….Yet you must know that in the end, it is LOVE’s garden you must tend.

If you had to add one more to this list, what would it be?

I enjoyed the above and thought I would post it for this entrie of the blog, hope you enjoyed it to!

God Bless you!
