John McCain’s remarks about the Pledge of Allegiance
In light of the recent appeals court ruling in
California , with respect to the Pledge of Allegiance,
the following recollection from Senator John McCain
is very appropriate:
‘The Pledge of Allegiance’ - by Senator John McCain
“As you may know, I spent five and one half years
as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early
years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary
confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the
NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into
large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room.
This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a
direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on
behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.
One of the men who moved into my room was a young
man named Mike Christian.
Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama.
He didn’t wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At
17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission
by going to Officer Training School Then he became a Naval
Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967.Mike had
a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country
and our military provide for people who want to work and want
to succeed.
As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed
some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these
packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items ofclothing.
Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of
months, he created an American flag and sewed on the inside
of his shirt.
Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we
would hang Mike’s shirt on the wall of the cell and
say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know the Pledge of Allegiance
may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I
can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the
most important and meaningful event. One day the Vietnamese
searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered
Mike’s shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it.
That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell,
and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian
severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened
the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up
as well as we could.
The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in
the middle on which we slept Four naked light bulbs hung
in each corner of the room. As I said, we tried to clean
up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down,
I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there
beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another
shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian.
He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the
beating he had received, making another American flag.
He was not making the flag because it made Mike
Christian feel better. He was making that flag because
he knew how important it was
to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our
flag and country.
So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance,
you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that
thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and
promote freedom around the world. You must remember our
duty, our honor, and our country.”
”I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States
of America and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice
for all.”

oh……and then you have this clown, who refuses
to place his hand on his heart and say the pledge……
Subject: Remember this picture on election day!
Let’s all remember this on election day…if you have family
serving in the military, make sure you Share this blog.
I don’t care for Hillary, but at least she shows respect
for the country she lives in.
I had heard about this but a picture is
definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!!
Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson,
Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during
the national anthem.
Barack Hussein Obama’s photo (that’s his real name)
……the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS
HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE,
BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE…..how can a man like
this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief
This story came to me by email from the internet, I do not agree with the statement of calling O’bama a clown. Of course I have never experienced being a prisoner of war and the tortore that goes with it. Or I to would probably say the same things. I do believe that anyone who cannot for some reason say the pledge of alligiance and is running for president is not consistant with what it takes to stand for God and Country and the people it represents. Being president is a sacred office to me. You represent God And Country! The bible Says it is God who lets those who are in the positions they serve from congress to the highest offices. Blessed is the nation “Whose god is the Lord” This doesn’t mean that the president is Lord, He recognizes Jesus as the one to seek guidance for all his decisions, Big and small! Join me in prayer for this Country and it’s next president.

As a car sped past them, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, “Leave us alone, you religious nuts!”

I wish the old paths were before us instead of behind us… Amen!
THE OLD PATHS
I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference. Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.
Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.
Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.
People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get in,
Not to get out!
Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!
We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house.
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!
Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the victory!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be saved!
A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ was for all your life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
And the Holy Spirit was respected.
Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord’s day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
or being entertained somewhere else.
I still like the old paths the best!
’The Old Paths’ was written by a retired Baptist minister (name unknown).

To: YOU From: God Subject: You Date: Today I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help. If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in my time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now. - If you find yourself stuck in traffic; don’t despair. There are people in this world for which driving is an unheard of privilege. - Should you have a bad day at work; think of the man who has been out of work for years. - Should you despair over a relationship gone badly; Think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return. - Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children. - Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk. - Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine. - Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what my purpose is? Be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity. - Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them! - Should you decide to share this with a friend, tell them about this blog ; Thank you, you may have touched their life in ways you will never know! DIRECTIONS TO OUR FATHER’S HOUSE.
Make a Right onto Believeth Blvd. Keep straight and go through
the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ. There, you must turn onto
the Bridge of Faith, which is over troubled water.
Now when you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep
Straight. You are on the King’s Highway - Heaven-bound.
Keep going for three miles: One for the Father, One for the Son,
and One for the Holy Spirit.
Then take the Grace Blvd exit. From there, make a Right turn
on Gospel Lane. Keep Straight and then make another Right on
Prayer Road. As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on
Temptation Ave. Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD
END. Pass up Envy Drive, and Hate Avenue. Also, pass
Hypocrisy Street, Gossiping Lane, and Backbiting Blvd.
However, you will have to go down Long-suffering Lane,
Persecution Blvd. and Trials and Tribulations Ave, but that’s all
right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead! AMEN!
